Cheryl, who is known to our ET family as Cher, introduced herself to us in 2016 after looking for additional information on a condition that has affected her, her Grandmother, Mother, Father, Brother and now has passed on to her son. She also worked with her mother until her passing in 2016 on helping her deal with dominant ET and Parkinson's. Her mother went through dual DBS surgery at age 82 which greatly helped give her back some quality of life and her fabulous skills as a concert/professional pianist.
Cher was officially diagnosed with Familial Tremor at 17, but looking back at her childhood she had many beginning symptoms of Essential Tremor. She has been involved with many different types of professions and endeavors, was a Music Education and Voice Major in college, retired after 25 years with AT&T in Sales, Project Management Support Service Management and ended her career as a Global Executive Escalation Manager.
In her free time - which was often hard to fit in - she Coached Baseball and Cheerleading. Cher was heavily involved in Theater as an Actor, Makeup Artist, Costumer and Music Director. For her volunteer work she was a 5year recipient of the Bronze award for The President's Volunteer Service Award and recently The Melvin Jones Award from Lions International.
She is passionate and driven to raise awareness, promote research, find treatments and a possible cure and helping people globally adapt to their lives with Essential tremor. Being asked to join The Diann Shaddox Foundation and Team DSF has been a proud and shining moment and one that will continue to be for many years to come.
