Stop et bullying
Tremors are not the result of lack of intelligence. In fact some of the most brilliant minds Katherine Hepburn, Lord Julian Fellowes, playwright Eugene O'Neill, Samuel Adams, West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor are individuals who were diagnosed with Essential Tremor.
The Children Educational Initiative Program includes educating our school systems about Essential Tremor.
We are working with Legislators and Educators on a pilot program to inform Principals, Teachers, and school Nurses about Essential Tremor.
Our goal is to help them identify and become aware of symptoms of ET in children in their classroom.
Most people don’t understand ET, people’s hands, head, legs, voice tremor and shake, so it brings on bullying at school, work, restaurants, and businesses because of ignorance they think it is funny. Many people assume you are on drugs or not very smart if you have tremors.
Respect refers to being accepting towards a person different from you in thoughts, disabilities, skin color, race, nationality, and age. To be considerate, show kindness and recognize everyone is different.
Children, all ages from very young to college, are not only bullied by their peers, but by teachers and principals. It isn’t because the teachers and principals are cruel, but because of lack of knowledge.
What can you do to make a difference and changes lives?
Join the fight to stop ET bullying. Get involved & learn about Essential Tremor. Talk to your children and your co-workers. Help Team DSF make a difference. Share your stories.
Take the time to talk with your children about bullying or to take part in anti-bullying programs that might exist at their neighborhood school.
You also take time to think and deal with workplace bullying as well.
