Meet Actor/Recording Artist Brad Carter
The story of Brad Carter is one of hard work, toil, tragedy and more than anything, triumph. Hailing from Macon, Georgia, Brad would make money playing his music in bars about 5 nights a weeks. In 2003, Brad came home one night and stumbled upon Phil Hartman's documentary on TV. He was so inspired by the story of Phil, that shortly after Brad packed his bags and headed out west to California to pursue his dreams of the silver screen and the big stage.
It wasn't long before his acting career picked up as he starting landing roles on some of television's biggest shows. These include shows such as Sons of Anarchy (FX), True Detective (HBO), Ascension (SyFy), and most recently opposite Johnny Depp in the film, Black Mass (Warner Bros.). As he became more successful in his acting career, he started playing music less and less. He had always planned to get back into playing his music when the time was right, but what he didn't know was that time was running out.
In 2006 while Brad was playing shows around Los Angeles, he noticed his hands began to shake. It had progressed so badly that he became embarrassed to play live, as he could no longer hide it. His shakes would later be diagnosed as Essential Tremor, which has no permanent cure. Time was not on Brad's side. If he ever wanted to make a record, he had to act fast.
In 2013, Brad decided to have a brain surgery called Deep Brain Stimulation, or DBS. One only needs to Google Brad Carter Brain Surgery to see hundreds of articles and videos that have gained millions of views, worldwide. These videos show Brad playing his guitar while on the operating table during his actual brain surgery. After his second surgery he knew his time was limited, so Brad set out to make his rock n' roll dreams a reality.
In the summer of 2013, Brad coordinated a successful Kickstarter campaign with the help of his friends, family, and even strangers from all around the world. Now, after two years and countless months of hard work, sweat and tears, he is ready! He has successfully finished recording his albums. Starting with a five song EP, Fieldhand, he will release in the winter of 2015; followed by his completed full length, Family Name slated for release in 2016. The time has come, and this is only the beginning for Brad Carter.
