If you know an organization who is deserving of a little extra help this holiday season, tell us! Summit your photo and essay telling TODAY show why the organization needs help.
How to do this is very easy, first read instruction before going to Today Giving.
The Diann Shaddox Foundation, 501 c(3) is giving hope to over 10 million Americans, including children to find a cause and cure for Essential Tremor. DSF is doing a campaign on Indiegogo to raise over $50,000 in 60 days to make a difference and needs help. Have you ever heard of Essential Tremor? The answer is no 99% of the time even though over 10 million Americans have Essential Tremor, including children and babies, and millions more people worldwide. Essential Tremor (ET) is the largest movement disorder and is a progressive neurological condition that causes a rhythmic trembling of the hands, head, voice, legs, or body. That's about 5% of all people in the United States. For comparison sake, 7.8% of the population have some type of diabetes. Most people though haven’t heard about Essential Tremor and DSF is adamant to bring attention to the world. Most people who have Essential Tremor hide, even celebrities. Michael J. Fox has done a wonderful job with Parkinson’s, but we have to bring awareness to Essential Tremor, which is 10 times larger than Parkinson’s. DSF’s mission is to educate and increase awareness worldwide about people afflicted with Essential Tremor and to advance research to find a cure. Quality of life is a big issue for people with Essential Tremor. Daily activities such as feeding, drinking, grooming and writing become difficult if not impossible. Many people with movement disorders are too embarrassed to go into public and depression sets in. Children and teens are bullied, teased in school. With awareness, people with movement disorders can come out of hiding; live normal lives as anyone with a disability. DSF works with people of all ages, all genders, all ethnic groups, and all movement disorders. Please help us make a difference in millions of lives.
